"...the town [now a city] is not very distinguished in architecture..." says one guidebook. Distinguished or not, the domed former college building glimpsed here is empty and decaying but may have a future as luxury apartments. The tide is high, concealing acres of mud (which in turn concealed, until recently, the remains of a 15th century ship on the opposite bank).
