Welcome to Places In Paint (incorporating artlinewales.co.uk)
Old fishing vessels never die, they only fade away - like the one in our latest painting (top right) apparently abandoned in a creek on the River Nith near Dumfries in south west Scotland.Another recent acrylic depicts a kind of near-treeless landscape to be found in part of Dumfriesshire, originally formed by glaciers into a complex of semi egg-shaped bumps known as drumlins; the contours accentuated by ancient stone walls (stane dykes, as they are called in Scotland).
We're also showing paintings from a wide variety of places in England, Scotland and Wales , and around the world, including Europe, Australia and Japan.
All the pictures shown are the work of two artists - brothers Ian and Stewart Irving - see General information for more details. Stewart's latest, bottom right, is of Haworth, site of the parsonage where the famed Bronte sisters wrote classics such as Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre.
Some pictures are for sale at reasonable prices - there's a list of places and pictures here - but If an original painting is too expensive, have a look at the prints on offer.
However, we hope you will enjoy browsing the galleries even if you have no wish to buy.
